We’re excited to announce an exciting new initiative at Pippa’s House Nursery— children's yoga classes are now part of our weekly schedule across all locations! This program, led by qualified Yoga & Mindfulness Teacher Victoria Smith, is part of our commitment to offering unique, enriching experiences that support children’s physical and emotional well-being.
Why Mindful Children'sYoga?
At Pippa’s House, we’re always looking for ways to nurture children’s growth in line with our core values and the UK’s EYFS curriculum. Yoga and mindfulness offer a wonderful opportunity to help children develop key life skills, such as self-regulation, focus, and emotional resilience—important for school readiness and personal growth.
Research shows that mindfulness and yoga can have a profound impact on children’s well-being, promoting:
Improved focus and concentration
Better emotional awareness and resilience
Physical health through strength and flexibility
Calmness and reduced stress
By introducing yoga, we’re giving our little learners the tools they need to thrive both now and in the future.
Program Overview
Our yoga classes are delivered through The Feel Good Project, specifically tailored to Pippa’s House Nursery. Led by Victoria, these themed sessions are designed to be engaging, age-appropriate, and inclusive for all children.
Here’s how the program works:
4-Week Themed Programme: Each month focuses on a unique theme, such as mindfulness, emotions, or nature.
Twice-Weekly Sessions: Preschoolers (ages 3–5) and Big Boppers (ages 2–3) enjoy two 20–30 minute sessions per week.
Guidance for Younger Children: Staff are provided with ideas and resources to introduce yoga-inspired activities for babies and toddlers (ages 0–2).
Certificates and Rewards: Children’s participation and milestones are celebrated, fostering a sense of achievement and pride.
Example Themes
Each theme is designed to spark curiosity and encourage mindful practice:
Intro to Mindfulness: Learning the basics of mindfulness and how to slow down.
Emotions & Feelings: Using positive affirmations to explore and understand emotions.
Yoga Basics: Fun poses introduced through playful “Animal Adventures.”
Connecting with Nature: Outdoor mindfulness activities that engage the senses.
Breathing Techniques: Simple exercises to promote relaxation and calmness.
Supporting Our Nursery Values
These yoga sessions perfectly align with the nurturing ethos of Pippa’s House Nursery, encouraging children to explore their emotions, connect with their surroundings, and build strong foundations for a lifetime of learning. They also reflect our commitment to providing distinctive, high-quality experiences that set our nurseries apart.
Celebrating Participation
To make the experience even more special, children are awarded certificates and small rewards for their participation and milestones. This recognition helps to build confidence, a sense of achievement, and motivation to continue their mindfulness journey.
